Wunderkammer (Wunderkörper: Alternative Trajectory)

Wunderkammer (Wunderkörper: Alternative Trajectory), part of Svenja Kratz’s Posthuman Genetic Legacies project, reimagines the traditional cabinet of curiosities to explore themes of biological agency and transformation. Expanding from a hallway dresser, this biomorphic installation merges scientific and domestic forms, challenging the rigid classifications of traditional wunderkammers. By incorporating microbial and cellular elements, including iPSC clones derived from her own blood, Kratz celebrates the unpredictable, transgressive potential of life forms beyond human-centric boundaries. This work highlights the concept of perpetual becoming, questioning fixed identities and the limits of human genetic legacy in a posthuman context.
