Still Frame: Time Passing is a photographic series developed by Dennis Kratz during a 2004 residency in Hill End, a remote NSW town. Using the metaphor of ghosts as vessels of historical narrative, the series delves into themes of place, presence, absence, and the passage of time. Comprising three photographic prints, the series captures the layered history and atmosphere of Hill End, reflecting on the lives and events of both past and present residents.

Still Frame: Time Passing #1 was a finalist for the 2006 Alice Art Prize and was showcased in Frames of Reference: Photographing Hill End, curated by Alison Bennett at the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery in 2005. Through these images, Dennis Kratz explores how memory and history linger, subtly shaping the identity of places over time.
