Ripples: Inwards/Outwards
Ripples consists of a sculptural work incorporating Svenja’s DNA isolated by the artist. The was developed during Fringes Catalyst residency at The Edge, a digital cultural centre at the State Library of Queensland.
The work connects to the movement and rippling of genetic information through species and generations, but also connects to earlier Perspex panel works produced by Svenja that explore notions of evolution, presence and absence, and particularly the way in which all things that come before leave traces which continue to manifest physically in the world, and form possibilities for future developments.
