Patterns in Randomness

Patterns in Randomness is a generative video work that examines the interplay between structured patterns and unpredictable forces, reflecting on thought, creativity, and evolution as dynamic, unfolding processes. Using code by Jared Tarbell and inspired by the rhizome—a non-hierarchical, interconnected model—the work’s shifting visual language embodies “becoming.” This piece highlights how established patterns are reshaped by chance, inviting viewers to consider the essential role of randomness in creative and biological systems. Through a balance of order and chaos, Patterns in Randomness reflects on the interconnectedness of all things in perpetual transformation.

The work forms part of The Absence of Alice.
